Experience fear and how to overcome it.
About Fear and the effect on your body.
Experience fear is an interesting action. Just by saying fear it changes your mood. It gives you goosebumps all over your body. Your hart is running faster and you are cowering and shivering in the corner of your inner self. You are thinking of the worst worst case scenario and go even deeper into a place that does not can happen in the real world at all. Fear means a lot of different things to different people. It is the most demobilizing action you can listen to in your life time. It is always against yourself and against your soul.
Go above fear and see the possibilities.
You do not overcome fear, you need to go above fear. Now, let me explain what that means, so it gives you an idea to do things regardless of fear. Fear to have is not a bad thing, it keeps you safe but also to much fear disables you from doing what you want to do.
Regretting things is a direct result of fear.
You may have noticed that a little bit after your decision not to do something, you regretted that decision and you should have done it. It was not as bad as you sought because your friend is still alive and happy, because he was not so fearful of it. This will always be a fight in your head between your body and your soul. The body wants to be as safe as possible and the soul wants to be as free as possible. This is the problem, which side is winning, your body or your soul? Now let me explain how to overcome your fear and at the same time to feel safe when you do the fearful things the first time. After a while of doing the fearful things you feel more and more at ease with it. This is the action you have to do to get started and never look fearfully back. You will see that you can do it and feel proud of what you have accomplished in a very short time.
Are you being afraid of heights or of being afraid of falling?
This is an example what i have done with paragliding to overcome fear. First i have to tell you that i am fearful of height’s and i want to do what? Paragliding, what a contradiction. You are not afraid of heights, your are being afraid of falling. You look at the stars, you are OK, you look down a building and your knees are shaking with fear of falling. Why is that? You feel your are falling off the building right now, but the building is still standing as strong as before you got up on the rooftop. Now we know that you do not trust the Building, Airplane, Paraglider…. It is a trust issue in your head, not a fear issue.
One real live example how to overcome fear.
I took a paragliding class with so called ‘Ground Handling’. This is were you take the Paraglider and learn how to control it by still standing on the ground. This you do for a week or until you trust in what you are doing with the Paraglider. The next step to fly from a 300 feet hill and fly straight down and land. During ground handling time, i was walking the front of the hill. This was a step in the right direction so that my fear of heights slowly subsided and i was OK to look down close by the hills edge or in front of the edge. After that it was OK with me to fly from the 300 foot hill. I did that with the 600 foot hill and with the 1200 foot mountain. This went on for many month. Finally i was able to fly as high as 11500 feet. This was amazing to do and see the country from a different perspective. It was scary. It was not easy. It was eye opening for me to see what you can do regardless of fear in your head and enjoy the life altering decision.
Do the tings you want to do and see the result later in life.
Today i am thankful that i did paragliding for over 12 years. Because of overcoming my fear, i saw so many countries, met so many people in different countries, just because i learned paragliding. You see, i still have the fear within me, but now i trust myself and my Paraglider more. So i can do paragliding. Start with small steps, make them smaller if you have to or make them as big as you can handle them. The most important part is that you keep moving in the right direction regardless what other do, think, or tell you what not to do. They usually tell you all the negative things, so you will stop what you are doing and become the same dull and cowards they are. Stake your curse and never give up on your dreams. Follow them so you do not loose your body and soul. Enjoy the path. Let your hart run a little bit faster on your journey and see what can be achieved in a short time. Remember, “When the action starts, fear goes away”.
Jump into the water anyway.
Just make a decision to jump from a 10 foot platform into the water for the first time. The fear is always the highest shortly before you jump. Once you jumped, the fear is gone and the action takes over. Like the saying goes, just do it.
Norby’s Recommendation:
Do the things your Soul wants you to do in a way that your body can accept the newly learned action.
